Do you remember when the flurry of self-help books came out back in the 70's and 80's? I was reminded of many of those books as I reorganized by book shelf a few weeks ago. I was coming of age during those years. The one I remember most readily was "Looking Out For #1." Of course this book runs counter to the message Christ gave us, "consider others better than yourselves." The secret to fulfillment is not in service to self, but in service to others! The Holy Spirit revealed to Paul that Christians are children of Abraham—not related through family blood line—but through the faith of Abraham. Perfection or sinlessness was not the issue between Abraham and the LORD, it was his faith that credited Abraham with righteousness! A few years ago, I received an essay from a friend called The Road of Life. The author is unknown, but the message is well known through the Word of God. The story is about riding a bicycle built for two with Jesus leading the way in the front seat. This story inspired me to develop a series of lessons to help us learn to trust Jesus on our daily road of life. These lessons were presented in Escanaba by Dave Grant at the Church of Christ.
